Zon Astral Projector / Back Down To Earth DELETED ESM091 The Band: Denton Young Lead vocals and percussion Howard Helm Keyboards and vocals (later joined Refugee) Brian Miller Guitars and vocals Kim Hunt Drums (later joined Hanover Fist, Hanover and Urgent) Jim Samson - Bass "Astral Projector" was the first album to appear in 1978, the album was noted for its stunning artwork. Those piercing bloodshot eyes that dominated the front cover opened out to reveal an ornate gatefold sleeve and an album that was chock full of melodies. Songs like "Put on the Show", "Hollywood" and "Astral Projector" set new standards in pomp rock. This was a winning formula that won the hearts of many, and is now set to be reissued with all the trimmings on the Escape Music label. In 1979 "Back Down to Earth" was released with the same line-up and it saw the band adopt a more commercial approach. The ZON hallmark was always present, the songs became shorter and the album a little poppier. However, this album contains one of their finest tracks the magnificent "Circus", a song which just simply brings the house down. Together, these two albums are a piece of pomp rock history and Escape Music are so proud to be a part of it. |
