Change Of Heart Continuum DELETED esm053 Change of Heart are a back with a follow-up to their much-acclaimed debut (ESM 036). There have been very few British melodic rock bands of any worth in recent years, but these boys have proved to be an exception. Anyone who attended the annual "Gods" festival in the UK should remember their fine performance. Change of Heart are made up as follows: Alan Clark (Vocals, Songwriter), John Footit (Guitars), Dave Chapman (Keys), Gary Howe (Bass), and Trevor Hart (Drums). Once again the band have used the talents of the man himself, Chris Ousey (Heartland / The Distance), for backing vocals and harmonies. In addition, veteran performers Dave Hopia (Bass) and Rob Kurzreiter (Drums) were drafted in as guests. For the recording of the "New album" Distance/Pokerface man Kenny Kaos was flown over to the UK to work with the band and to produce the album with Chris Ousey. After the initial recording of the songs in Manchester the tapes were taken back to Canada for mixing, courtesy of Delwyn Brooks who was the man also responsible for the debut. The CD is now complete and is a fine example of British melodic hard rock. The recording has been engineered in such a way so as to bring out the best feeling in the Change of Heart sound. Opening track "Blinded" is an in-your-face rocker that simply rips the speakers apart, with blistering solo's from guitarist John Footit. This is just a start of what's to come, songs like "I don't want to be lonely", "Call of the Wild", "Run from the Storm" and "Love on the Line" are all going to delight fans old and new. There is a nice cross-section of tunes on the CD, "Say that you want me" is a pleasant, catchy song that bounces along at an up-tempo pace, whilst ballad "Hands on my Heart" is a hugely infectious song that boasts a sing-along chorus. The harmonies and arrangements on this song alone are just amazing. The last track on the album is "Mysteries", a song penned by Kenny Kaos and Darcy Deutsch with the band and the boys have given it their best shot, the finished product sounds simply perfect. A great way to end the album. Change of Heart have matured into a first rate rock band that will place them in the premier slot in the UK. This second album should see them escalate to great heights and establish them as a leader in British melodic hard rock. |
