Firefly Where You Gonna Run DELETED esm033 Firefly is the brainchild of John Pratt, an extremely talented song writer and multi-instrumentalist from Los Angeles, California. John is best known for his extensive contributions to the TV and movie industry, working on such movies as “Cadillac Man”, “Robocop II” and “Firebirds”. His most recent film is “Still Holding On” starring Clint Black and Lisa Hartman. John has previously recorded with Kim Carnes, Lita Ford, Julliett and Gino Vanelli. In the eighties he had his own band, Roxbury Drive, who were cited as the largest drawing unsigned band in Los Angeles at one point. John is currently working with one Michael Alemania, a man who has just a fine background in the music scene as John himself. Between 1985 and present day he has been touring keyboards player for Jack Wagner, Vixen and Wilson Phillips. Michael is very much a part of Firefly and plays keyboards on the album. Other band members for Firefly include drummer Ron Wikso (Richie Sambora, Foreigner, The Storm, Dave Lee Roth and Cher), guitarist Bob Gilles (Innocent), bass player Tim Luce (Alice Cooper, Poison, Motley Crue), drummer Chris Meyer (Roxbury Drive) and guitar virtuoso John Thomas who has worked with countless bands in his career. Guest musicians featuring on the album are Ricky Phillips (Bad English, Babys and Fredricksen/Phillips) on bass. The musical styles on “Where you gonna run” are very varied and it’s virtually impossible to accuse the music to be repetitive. John has a strong, unique voice that changes to suit the needs of each song, the melodies are so powerful and each time you listen you can hear another slant to the sound that you never quite heard the previous spin. “Holes in the Wall” is a particularly good example of such intricate musicianship, there is so much going on here. Each of the band members, including guests, add their own unique touch, giving one hundred per cent effort and the final result shows. A great new album on the ever-expanding Escape label. |
