The re-recording of the debut album by Vancouver’s Agent (Escape Music ESM 009) was well received by AOR fans across the world and with the inclusion of a bonus track “Just Between The Two Of Us”, it was an even more tempting release than it’s original vinyl only release in the eighties. The idea behind the re-recording was to enhance the entire sound and to introduce new vocalist Troy Reid. Troy not only has a magnificent voice but is also a respected drummer and guitarist. Existing members Craig Zurba and Andre Kunkel are also multi-talented instrumentalists and with a fourth member in Tom Lang, the line up is complete for their new album “Evidence...”

“Evidence” is a natural progression from eighties to nineties, the sound is altogether fresher and the song writing more mature. From the debut the song “Surrender” was always highly regarded, and probably their best remembered song from that album. “Evidence” gives us just as memorable rockers like “Never Forget”, “Somebody” and “Don’t Let Me Know”, the latter is a monster of a song and can not be fully appreciated on just one spin. The rockier songs on the album sometimes take on a Bryan Adams feel whilst the ballads, where Troy really pours on the passion, lean towards Michael Bolton rock ballads as Troy has a similar vocal prowess to the great man himself. You only have to listen to songs like “Heart In My Hand” and “Just Say Tonight” to realise the potential hit capabilities of this fine Canadian band, Agent really are a rock band with chilling class.

This latest offering from these multi-talented Canadians is a huge step forward in their quest to dominate the melodic rock world and, in the eyes of their many followers, fulfils a long wait. Agent will undoubtedly keep this strong fan base entertained whilst attracting new fans from all corners of the globe. “Evidence” will prove to be as much loved as their timeless debut.
