Arcara
A Matter Of Time

Russell Arcara first sprung to fame in 1985 on the release of the album “When Midnight Comes” by Surgin’. The band Surgin’ was the brainchild of one Jack Ponti who was working with a young Bon Jovi at the time. The album featured the song “Shot Through The Heart”, written by Ponti / Bon Jovi and the vocal style of Russell Arcara placed him in very high esteem with fans and critics alike. However, it was Bon Jovi’s own version that hit the big time, but Russell’s appeal was never far behind.

Three years later, Russell took over from Dean Fasano as lead vocalist for master pompsters “Prophet”. Again there was a Bon Jovi connection as Fasano had previously worked with Richie Sambora and Alec Jon Such in the band “Message”. Prophet released two albums with Russell as lead vocalist : “Cycle Of The Moon” in 1988 and “Recycled” in 1991. These two performances were milestones in Russell’s singing career and helped establish him as a world class rock vocalist.

That takes us into the nineties and the debut album by “Arcara” on Escape Music. The debut has a much more “in your face” style about it than Russell’s previous work and features great songs like “Marie”, “Wine & Roses” and “Love’s Decay”. Musicians on the album include Karl Cochran (Ace Frehley Band, Joe Lynn Turner, Phantom’s Opera), Scott Metaxas (Prophet, Nuclear Assault). The album was produced by Steve DeAcutis (POD), who is again at the helm for the second album for Arcara “A Matter Of Time”. Steve has such a strong pedigree when it comes to song writing (much of the Arcara material is co-written by Steve), musicianship (Steve plays guitar on the album, he is also an accomplished Bassist and Drummer) and technical work. Steve has his own studio (Sound Spa) and has achieved his unquestionable technical skills through years of devotion to the music industry. Throughout these years he has constantly rubbed shoulders with major record companies, most recently with Sony and worked alongside big name producers such as Kevin Shirley (Silverchair, Dream Theater, Journey). Other players on “A Matter Of Time” include Larry Tripp (Guitars), Danny Rongo (Bass) and Vinny Sisser (Drums)

Russell himself has excelled with the vocal performance on “A Matter Of Time” and the album itself is a natural extension of his obvious capabilities. Bringing melodic rock into the nineties is never an easy task and it needs a certain talent to pull it off successfully, that talent can be found in the latest offering from Arcara.
